One Dollar FLIP FLOP SALE at Old Navy!

http://moneysavingmom.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Screen-shot-2012-06-14-at-8.00.16-AM.png
This is a day that I LIVE for every year! YES! I am one of the crazy people that goes to Old Navy and stands in that long line to buy my 5 pair of flip flops every year. I even bring my kids and extra people so they can buy me flip flops too! I know the sales reps are looking at my 5 year old niece like, "Yeah, right! You came to buy these size 7 women's flip flops for yourself, huh?" Anyhow, the colors that I want are usually sold out by the time that I get there because I am not the wake-up-at-the-crack-of dawn-for-a-sale type of crazy person. Just a stand-in-a-line-of-100-people- kind of crazy person. I'm not as crazy as one of my best friends who takes her husband and 5 sons to get 5 pairs each. The youngest son is Two and the oldest is Seven. Having all those kids makes her crazier than me. Taking them to more than one Old Navy to get multiple pairs of flip flops for each of them makes her psychotic! (Love you BerBur!)
So, the sale is June 30th, 2012. There is a limit of 5 pair per person. My secret tip: Man, I shouldn't share this, but I don't have that many blog readers so I guess it won't matter. Ok...The secret tip is:
If they don't have your color or size, buy a pair anyway. Any pair. Any size. And return them later in the week for the pair you really want.
There.
I said it.
I told you my secret.
I heard this from an Old Navy sales rep one year and I did it for the last few years. I hope they haven't caught on and changed the policy.
I will keep you posted if I hear that it has changed.
See you in line!

PS

Please do not come back to my blog to talk mess about how bad my friend's kids are if you see them in Old Navy. They might be bad, but I love them!

Weekday Fast n Cheap Eats

So, most of y'all know about  Popeye's Chicken 2 piece (Leg & Thigh)  for .99 on Tuesdays.

 Church's does the same thing

Captain D's offers 2 pieces of their batter dipped fish for .99 on Tuesday's also.

But what about the other days?

Well, KFC offers an All you can Eat on Mondays for 7.99. To start you off, your first plate includes one piece of chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, creamy coleslaw, two buttermilk biscuits and a drink. However, I'm told you can customize it to your liking – just no strips or hot wings allowed. The offer is valid at participating locations on Mondays only.

KFC is also offering Chicken Fried Steak Combo for $3.99 on Wednesdays only. The combo meal includes chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, creamy coleslaw, a buttermilk biscuit and medium drink . The promo price is valid at participating locations on Wednesdays only. And guess what? It’s for “a limited time.”

Sonic is offering Happy Hour from 2-4 with half off drinks and slushes.

They are also offering half price shakes all day on June 20th.

And half price shakes after 8pm all summerr.

Jack in the Box is competing with Sonic by offering half off of all their drinks between 2 and 4.

Del Taco has not just one, but two Taco Nights every week. On Tuesdays, you can get 3 Regular Tacos for $1.09 or 3 Tacos Deluxe for $2.09. Then, on Thursdays, you can get 3 Chicken Soft Tacos for $2.09. The deal is only good from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Celebrate summer and stretch your dollar at Qdoba Mexican Grill. Through July 8, stop by any participating metro Denver or Boulder Qdoba, flash this downloadable Summer Savings Pass and get any regular entrée for just $6 (plus tax). The deal can’t be combined with any other offers. Limit one offer, per diner, per visit. And best of all, this pass can be used again… and again… and again.

Pizza Hut’s $10 pizza deal has returned for the summer, at least for the time being. For only 10 bucks, pizza fans can pick any size pizza they want, select from more than a dozen topping options and choose any crust including Pan Pizza, Hand-Tossed or Thin ‘N Crispy. (For an additional charge, you can get the Stuffed Crust Pizza). There’s no limit. However, it’s carry-out only. It’s a great value, especially if you love lots of toppings on your pizza. Again, the deal is for “a limited time.”

With Pizza Hut’s “any large pizza for $10″ deal back, Papa John’s is offering a large, two-topping pizza for just $10 with promo code 2TLG10. However, if you’re hungrier, you can upgrade to any large pizza (limit five toppings with no double toppings or extra cheese), including specialty pizzas, for $2 more with promo code ALL12.  The discount applies to online orders. If you’re not an “online order” person, the offer is also available in-store with no promo code necessary. The offer is for a limited time, but they’ll probably keep it going as long as Pizza Hut does.

Benihana has two June specials on the menu. The five-course Filet Mignon & Chicken special is $48 for two, and the Seafood Diablo, also five courses, is $20. There are two Benihanas in the metro area: 3295 S. Tamarac Dr., Denver, 303-750-0200, and 515 Zang St., Broomfield, 303-410-0482.

Colorado now has two Steak ‘n Shake locations, thanks to the newly opened restaurant in Sheridan. The “famous for steakburgers” chain lets kids eat for FREE every Saturday and Sunday. Here’s the fine print: You get one FREE Kids Plate for every $8 spent (excluding drinks and shakes.) Plus, the deal is for children 12 & under and dine-in only.
Steak n Shake also offers  a “1/2 Price Happy Hour” twice every weekday – from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and, for those late night people, 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. During the special hours, all drinks and shakes are 50% off – except for Red Bull.
8271 S. Quebec St., Centennial; 3502 River Point Pkwy., Sheridan.

Every month, Subway offers a “Featured Footlong” for only $5 - all day long, all month-long. For June, it’s the Oven Roasted Chicken Footlong. The deal is good through June 30. Remember, the specially-priced sub is available at participating locations only.

Eating out for lunch everyday can get expensive, so you might consider Einstein Bros. Bagels‘ new Lunch Value Bundle as a “cheap” option. For $5.99, you get a deli sandwich (turkey, ham, tuna, veggie or chicken salad), chips or potato salad and a medium fountain drink. The offer is for a limited time. It’s always great to wake up to savings. Einstein Bros. Bagels has just introduced its new Breakfast Value Bundle. For $3.99, you get a bagel and schmear, as well as a medium coffee. However, there’s an additional charge for gourmet bagels. The offer is for a limited time.
If you’re looking for an afternoon snack “on the cheap”, Einstein Bros. Bagels is the place to stop. After 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, all bagels are 50% off, including a bagel and schmear. (For those not in the know, “schmear” refers to a thick spread of of cream cheese.) Note that most locations close at 5 p.m., so you only two hours to get the bargain bagels. However, bulk, bucket, catering and pre-orders are excluded from the offer. The discount is available at participating locations only. Plus, the offer is only valid in the Denver and Dallas markets – not nationally.
For locations, click here.

Mangia! Mangia! After you’ve enjoyed your meal at Maggiano’s Little Italy, you can leave with more than enough food for your next meal. Get a take-home order of one of their nine Pasta Classic entrées for FREE with the purchase of one. Your purchased entrée must be dine-in only. The dishes include spaghetti, lasagna, baked ziti, fettuccine alfredo, eggplant parmesan and more. Plus, your FREE entrée does not have to be the same as your dine-in entrée, so the combinations are aplenty. I like this special because it’s available on the menu all the time. There are only two locations – Denver (500 16th St. at Denver Pavilions, 303-260-7707) and Englewood (7401 S. Clinton St., 303-858-1405.)

I'll keep you updated on more as I come across them. Stay tuned for Kids eat free.

Prince Toshi

Here comes the part of my blog where I use the F word...I warned you it would come sooner or later. There's no way to avoid
 my FEELINGS.
Today, my son came to visit-Yay!
I wasn't home-Boo!
Whenever my son comes to visit, he brings our grand-dog, Toshi with him. Toshi Akito is the cutest Miniature Doberman Pinscher ever. The problem with Toshi is that he thinks he is a Prince. This stems from the fact that my son thinks he's a king and therefore treats his dog accordingly. You may think I'm overstating, but the dog has his own Facebook fan page for crying out loud! (Follow Toshi here: Prince Toshi). My grand-dog is hilarious! He sits like a prince on his pillows and acts like the floors outdoors are beneath him. He even prances when he walks! He's just a puppy!
Imagine my surprise when King Theo decided to feed Prince Toshi out of my brand new Tupperware container. Apparently, he didn't realize that Tupperware bowls cost $19.00. Never mind that I swiped this container from my Mom's cabinet, it's still expensive as hell and it's new and it's mine now! I think I may slowly steal her whole Tupperware set! Swiper, no swiping! You say! I say, Shut up, it only works if you say it three times!
So, I bleached the Tupperware bowl and ran it through the dishwasher, but I'll probably always think of the dog drinking water out of it and never want to use it.
I know people love their pets, but I'm not cool with eating out of the same dishes as animals.
Even if they ARE princes!

Problem Solved!

Lemon Berry Slush (Sonic Copy Cat)

I LOVE the Lemon Slush from Sonic. My nephew and I made a Watermelon & Lime version the other day, but I wanted to find a lemon version. I found this recipe and I think if I make it without the strawberries, it would be dead on. With the strawberries will probably be better! Try it and let me know what you think! I'm all about berries this week, they are on sale this month!

The Book Lady Online: Make it Yourself Monday - Lemon Berry Slush (Soni...: We love Lemon-berry Slush from Sonic. Strawberries in lemonade slush - yummy!

You say Target- I say Tarzhe'

I go into Target for ONE thing. Usually it's my prescriptions because I love my pharmacists there. For some reason, I get stuck in there like it's some black hole and come out an hour later and at least $100 more broke. The Clearance sections are my favorite. I check out the Dollar section from time to time, too.

As a person who spends a lot of time in Target, I think that every Target shopper needs to know these things.

 1. If the price ends in 8, it will be marked down again. If it ends in a 4, it's the lowest it will be.
2.  Red stickers appear on all clearance deals at Target.  The original price appears on the top right corner along with a number such as, “15, 30, 50″ etc.  This is the percentage it has been marked down. This is important if you are watching the item. You will know if you can wait to buy it next week. Target does not often   mark items down to 75%. But it has been done.

EVERY Target shopper NEEDS to know this: If the price ends in 8, it will be marked down again. If it ends in a 4, it's the lowest it will be. Target's mark down schedule. - MONDAY: Kids’ Clothing, Stationery (office supplies, gift wrap), Electronics. TUESDAY: Women’s Clothing and Domestics. WEDNESDAY: Men’s Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty. THURSDAY: Lingerie, Shoes, Housewares. FRIDAY: cosmetics

4. Target can text you coupons Target Mobile

5. A lot of clearance items are placed on the End Caps of the Aisles, be sure to check them every time you go, there may be something there that you already have in your cart. I've seen dish and laundry soap, trash bags and even food items on the  End Caps.

6. Target has a strict return policy which limits the returns you can make without a receipt ($75 per year).  However, there is a way around this. The store tracks every credit card purchase. If you can remember which credit card you purchased the item with, the store can look up the transaction by simply swiping your card and scanning the item. If they find the transaction, they will let you return the item without the physical receipt.  If you do have your receipt, Target will adjust the prices on items that go on sale (not clearanced) within 14 days of the purchase.

7. If you bring your own bag, you will receive a $.05  discount for each bag used. Easy way to save money and be green at the same time!

8. Target has a great Pharmacy Reward. If you fill 5 prescriptions you get 5% off your shopping. Target Pharmacy Rewards They offer coupons for gift cards often, in their sales paper that comes in the Sunday newspaper.

Quadruple Berry Lemonade

Shout out to my daughter, Ty who called me and asked, "Have you ever tried the Triple Berry Lemonade at Wendy's?" I couldn't recall, but she went on to say, "You should try and make that."
So, not one to shy away from trying to make anything, here is my version of the Triple Berry Lemonade...Of course, I had to one up them!

Quadruple Berry Lemonade

2 packets of Lemon Kool Aid (Don't judge me, I like shortcuts)
1 cup of frozen or fresh mixed berries ( I happen to have a little bit of Raspberries, Blackberries, Blueberries and Strawberries from the smoothies I make)
2 Cups of Sugar (Look, I already told you not to judge me,  use less if you'd like)

This recipe makes a gallon of lemonade. Use a gallon or 4 quart pitcher. If you only have a 2 quart pitcher, then...well, cut the recipe in half.

Thaw the berries, if you're not using fresh. Blend in blender until smooth. Strain out the seeds through a fine strainer or sieve into a large bowl or pitcher. There will be a lot of "Good Stuff" left in the strainer. Pour some water through the strainer to get the "Good Stuff" into your berry mix. Make the Kool Aid by mixing the 2 packets with the sugar and a little bit of hot water, to help the sugar dissolve. Add the berry mixture and fill your 4 quart pitcher with cold water and ice.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Quasi Homemade Tamales

Quasi Homemade Tamales

We went to the Farmer’s Market this weekend for two things; cherries and tamales. It was HOT outside and we wanted to go around as quickly as possible and get what we wanted. Our Farmer’s Market is shaped in a big U, so we had to make a quick decision- Which way to start? Left or right? We chose left. In the first two stands there was a lady selling Salsa and giving out samples. My husband tried to quickly walk past her, but my nose told me to linger and look. Sure enough she was also selling Pork tamales in red chile and green chile. She gave us a sample of the tamales and for some unknown reason we only bought a half dozen. She didn’t have a sample of her green chile, so she gave us a whole burrito for free. We took it and bought another burrito for the road. We never found any cherries, but we did come away with some freshly roasted Hatch green chiles so that I can make my own Famous Green Chile. The recipe will follow one day soon. Today, you will have to settle for my Quasi Homemade Tamales.
Tamales from the Farmer’s Market- Still wrapped in their husks, unthawed
Green chile (I got mine from the Farmer’s Market, but you can get yours where you chose)
Shredded Cheese (I use a Mexican Blend)
Open the husks very carefully, trying to leave the Tamale intact. Spread with green chile, top with cheese, seal the tamale back up and bake for 15 minutes at 400*.  Serve with Spanish rice, beans, a taco and you’ll look like you’re a real pro!

You’re welcome!

My New Blog

My daughter told me that my Facebook posts are meant for a blog, not Facebook. Apparently, I was driving her crazy with all my status updates with household tips and recipes. She told me that I was a Blogger. I asked, "Is that a bad thing?" "No," she replied, "it just means you need to start a blog!"
So, here I am, trying my hand at blogging. This is my first attempt at my new blog, "I know you wanna know". I entitled it such, because it will be filled with things that I wanna know. What are the best deals? Is there a hot coupon out? Is that restaurant a Mmm or a Mweh or a straight up Ugh? I'll share household tips that I learn and recipes that I've tried or want to try, because if you've come to my blog, I know you wanna know!
